There are different types of martial arts that your child can pursue. Of these, two of the most popular ones are Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai or Thai Boxing. Both are taught extensively under the watchful eyes of our martial arts Byron Bay trainers.

In fact, our centre has special kids’ programmes that have been specifically created to make martial arts training a fun activity for your child.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is a combat sport martial art that emphasizes on grappling and ground fighting. It is based on the concept that if the technique and application are correct, even a much smaller and weaker person can easily tackle and overpower a much stronger and heavier opponent.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu uses quick movements such as grappling, joint locks, chokeholds and so on so as to take the fight to the ground and keep the opponent pinned there.

Children are great fans of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as it mimics many of the natural movements they use while fighting with their friends and siblings. It’s a great way of teaching children how to bond with others through friendly fights and accept defeat gracefully as a part of life.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai is a popular class of martial arts Byron Bay training centre. This is also a combat sport martial art that involves different clinching movements along with stand-up striking positions.

Thai boxing is also referred to as the Art of Eight Limbs as it involves the contact and combined use of all eight limbs – the fists, elbows, shins and the knees.

Understandably, Thai Boxing is also very popular with kids at martial arts Byron Bay. They just love using their entire body to throw kicks and punches at each other in a playful manner while gaining all the benefits of this unique oriental martial art.
