About this event
Kids 6–8 — Foundations for Future Champions
This session introduces young athletes to the essential foundations of competition-style Jiu-Jitsu. Under world champion guidance, students will develop:
- Strong movement patterns for balance and control
- Early competition strategy and mat awareness
- Endurance and conditioning through age-appropriate drills
- Discipline, respect, and a champion mindset
- The confidence to train with some of the best young athletes in Australia
This class builds the base required for long-term development and future competition success.
Kids 9–14 — Advanced Competition Preparation
Designed for motivated young athletes, this session focuses on sharpening technique, building endurance, and preparing for competition with intensity and purpose. Students will work on:
- High-percentage, competition-proven techniques
- Positional strategy, transitions, and timing
- Mental toughness and mindset training
- Live rounds with some of the best kids in the country
- Guidance and coaching from a world champion at every session
This class provides a complete training environment for kids who want to elevate their game and build the habits of champions.
UNIFORM
– White Gis only and Rash guard worn underneath, No Gi Uniform is to be rashguard, training shorts and leggings ( No T shirts) gym patches are fine. ( we have uniform available at The Academy if needed)
TRAINING FACILITY
Many parking spots in the complex, showers and bubbler to fill up water bottles.

1. Who can join the camp?
The camp is open for everyone. kids from any gym, any team, anywhere.
2. What ages can participate?
We run two age groups: • Kids 6–8 • Kids 9–15 Each group has its own dedicated training session.
3. What level is this camp for?
This camp is designed as competition-style training. It’s recommended for kids who already compete or who plan to compete soon and want to elevate their level.
4. What will they learn?
A complete training experience focused on: • Gi training • Guard passing, guard retention & attacks • High intensity rounds • Competition strategy • Mindset, discipline, and confidence • Learning from and training with some of the best kids in Australia • World Champion guidance from Professor Thalison Soares
5. Can parents stay and watch?
No. Parents cannot stay inside the mats area or the training space. This is to keep kids focused, confident, and fully engaged in the training atmosphere.
6. What should kids bring?
• Gi • Water bottle • Mouthguard (optional) • Energy and a great attitude
7. Is the camp refundable?
Yes — you can request a refund or use the value as credit for future TA events if something changes.
8. What if spots sell out?
You can apply for the waiting list. If a spot opens, we will contact you in order of registration.
9. Who is leading the camp?
The camp is led by Professor Thalison Soares, World Champion at every belt level and founder of The Academy Byron Bay
10. What rules is it based on?
